GTLaunch — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how GTLaunch (the “App”) handles information when you use the App on Android or iOS. By using the App you agree to this Policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you create an account we collect: phone number or email address, username, optional avatar image, vehicle (make, model, year), and a password (stored hashed on our servers, never in clear text).

1.2 Driving and Performance Data

The core function of GTLaunch is recording driving sessions. The App captures and stores:

  • GPS coordinates (latitude, longitude, altitude, speed, heading)
  • Acceleration data (lateral and longitudinal G-forces)
  • Lap times, split times, and derived performance metrics
  • Track and session metadata (track name, country, timestamps)

1.3 User-Generated Media

If you record a video of a session inside the App, the video file (including audio) is stored locally on your device. You may optionally upload videos and photos when sharing a post; uploaded files are stored on our cloud storage provider.

1.4 Social Activity

If you post to the Discover feed, comment, like, or follow other users, that content and the related interactions (timestamps, target user ids) are stored on our servers and visible to other users.

2. Permissions We Request and Why

  • Camera — to record video clips of your driving sessions. Used only when you explicitly start recording.
  • Microphone — to capture audio in your recorded videos.
  • Location (precise) — to log GPS coordinates during sessions and to establish geographic context for tracks. Required for the App’s core function.
  • Bluetooth (scan / connect) — to discover and pair with the GTLaunch external GPS hardware over Bluetooth Low Energy.
  • Photos / Media — to let you select existing photos or videos when creating a Discover post.
  • Notifications — to alert you about social activity on your posts (likes, comments) and upload status.
  • Foreground service — to keep the BLE connection and session recording alive while the App is in the background. A persistent notification is shown while a session is active.

You can revoke any permission at any time in your device’s Settings. Doing so will disable the related functionality but will not delete data already stored.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide the App’s session recording, lap timing, and analysis features.
  • To sync your account and sessions across devices when you sign in.
  • To display your shared sessions to other users you have authorised (Discover feed, leaderboards, friend share).
  • To diagnose crashes and improve the App (only when crash reporting is enabled and permitted by you in App settings).

4. Data Storage and Sharing

Account data, session metadata, and social activity are stored on our backend servers operated under the gtlaunch.com domain.

User-uploaded media (videos and images you choose to share) are stored on Alibaba Cloud Object Storage (OSS) regions located in the United States and/or Hong Kong, depending on the bucket configured for your account.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your data with advertising networks or third-party analytics providers. We may disclose information when required by law, by valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of GTLaunch, our users, or the public.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account information and session data for as long as your account remains active. If you delete a session locally, the local copy is removed immediately; cloud copies are removed during the next sync cycle. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise associated personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

6. Children’s Privacy

GTLaunch is intended for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction or deletion of your personal information.
  • Withdraw consent for optional data processing at any time.
  • Export your account and session data in a portable format.

8. Security

We use industry-standard transport encryption (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit between the App and our servers. Passwords are stored hashed. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password and keep your device protected.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page indicates when the latest revision took effect. Continued use of the App after a revision constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
